Game of Thrones Lannister Hoodie
It’s the first day of Daylight Savings Time – as usual, I am ticked off. My three Siamese derivative cats are bellowing hellishly in three-part cacophony because their breakfast has dropped out of the auto feeder in the middle of the night when all good cats should be sleeping or howling if the moon is full. Then their supper is coming long after dark.
I can’t remember how to set all the clocks that need setting. Even the stupid car needs a reboot. And it’s bloody cold as a yeti’s bum. Worse, my cupboard is bare. If I don’t want to eat restaurant packaged crackers with dust on the cellophane, I must venture forth in the cold and dark to get food.
Then, I reach for the closest warm garment and my fingers touch this hoodie.
Oh yes, it’s red, which means it must be much warmer than garments of the same construction in different colors, especially cool colors like blue – and definitely gray.
Being a fan of all things feline, I’m drawn first to the Lannister Lion sigil on front. I definitely feel like roaring today. Perhaps the lion will serve as a warning label? Tyrion and Jamie also happen to be two of my favorite Game of Thrones characters. Oh yes, I love the schemers and the misunderstood. We have a lot in common.
Oh and it’s so warm. Just sliding the hoodie on feels like a hug. Not that I want a hug right now, no thank you—but this is nice. The shoulders fit perfectly and the sleeves are long enough to tuck my hands in if I forget my gloves—which I do too often. Oh myyyyyy… But wait—there’s a capacious marsupial pocket up front to tuck my hands in.
And the hood is large enough that I don’t have to worry about Bad Hair Days. The self-governing and chaotic alien lifeform which sits atop my head can be confined so as not to frighten small children. Or worse, make the carefully-coiffed and hair-sprayed Southern womanhood murmur “bless her heart” whenever I pass by.
What more could I ask for? Okay, it could repel lint and cat hair and give me direct access to the rest of George RR Martin’s work before everyone else, but that may well be on the order of a Saturnalian miracle.
I can rarely say these words on Day One of DST, but I am quite well pleased with this hoodie and I believe that any cold-natured Game of Thrones fan will be as well.
