Weeping Angel

Dear Sara,

Is it possible to kill a [easyazon_link asin=”B0057E5HTI” locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”buzmag-20″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”default” popups=”default”]weeping angel[/easyazon_link]? After all, when a Weeping Angel is quantum locked it can’t move and is for all intents and purposes just stone. You can shatter stone with a lot of different tools. I would think a sonic screwdriver should be able to shatter stone by vibrating at the correct frequency.

Thanks,
Arthur W

Dear Arthur,

While they have the appearance of stone, the material must be far harder than any substance known to humans, or Time Lords for that matter. The Weeping Angels are incredibly old, tens of millions of years old. They were contemporaries of the Time Lords and able to withstand anything the Time Lords could throw at them. It is clear that The Doctor does his best to avoid them because neither his personal strength nor that Sonic Screwdriver has any impact on them. In the episode ‘[easyazon_link asin=”B004WJCJDQ” locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”buzmag-20″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”default” popups=”default”]The Time of Angels[/easyazon_link]’, the projectile weapons of the 51st century were not able to destroy them. They are even able to survive radiation and harsh environments, situations where marble or granite would be vaporized, so though they look like stone, they are not like any stone we have ever come across. In the episode ‘[easyazon_link asin=”B009JR2HVU” locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”buzmag-20″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”default” popups=”default”]The Angels Take Manhattan[/easyazon_link]’ we learn of possibly their only weakness. In that episode they were able to be poisoned by tainting temporal energies using paradox. So yes Arthur, they can be destroyed but not by any conventional means.

*Time Lords – The oligarchic rulers of the planet Gallifrey, and thus also Gallifreyan.
*Weeping Angles – The Weeping Angels were a species of quantum-locked humanoids, so called because their unique nature necessitated that they often covered their faces with their hands to prevent trapping each other in petrified form for eternity by looking at one another. This gave the Weeping Angels their distinct “weeping” appearance. They were known for being murderous psychopaths, eradicating their victims “mercifully” by dropping them into the past and letting them live out their full lives, just in a different time period. This, in turn, allowed them to live off the remaining time energy of the victim’s life. However, when this potential energy paled in comparison to an alternative power source to feed on, the Angels were known to kill by other means, such as snapping their victims’ necks.(Tardis.Wikia.com)
