Joy Poger – I Am Here
Joy Poger – I Am Here
It has been about 10 weeks since my diagnosis and my life has changed dramatically. What has not changed much is Buzzy Mag. First, I want to thank all our readers for the your support and love you have sent in my direction. For those whose message was “I will meet you in the next life” – sorry I Am Still Here alive and breathing.
My business partner and I, a.k.a. Aunt June, had been busy framing out the Buzzy business plan for the next 1-5 years for Buzzy Multimedia. This included continuing full Speed With Buzzy Mag, producing a few more Buzzy Audios & starting to publish full length print novels. We were debating if our Buzzy Tees were going to stay in production. My health has answered that question. Sadly we need to let the tees go. All other Buzzy plans will be happening, just not at the speed I personally was hoping for. First, I need to fight my personal battle, then back to the fun stuff. In the meantime, Buzzy Mag will still be publishing some stories we have backlogged while adding some interviews and reviews – all at a much slower pace.
What can you do to help us for when we are ready to go full steam ahead with our short stories, novels and audios again?
I am glad you asked : )

Attached is a current image of myself. Many have asked “what do you look like?” Here I am. Over the decades my weight has fluctuated wildly from very slim to obese, but here I am currently. It is not in my nature to open up publicly, but once again, thank you for all the well wishing and prayers. I know God hears prayers. They may not get answered the way we want them to, but he hears them. I have a thankful heart, and there are a few things I would like to publicly give thanks for.
Teaching: I spent many years in N.Y. as a teacher. I am grateful for all the friendships I made. I learned when to open my mouth in a business setting and when to keep it shut. Process is just as important as product. I learned how much I can learn from a five year old, and how much they love you back, how much a child trusts the adults in their lives, and how this should never be violated. I learned how to take complex ideas and break it into parts so a child can understand them. I learned that the more you love, the more you will be loved. Also teachers are greatly underpaid and overworked. If I wrote a book it would be, “Why Mrs. Smith Can’t Teach,” but that would be another blog/another day’s discussion. God Bless our teachers on every grade level.
I am grateful for my cancer. It has brought me back to God.
I am grateful I live in a place where I can receive such high quality medical treatment.
I am grateful for every dear friend I have encountered in my life, the ones who are currently involved and the ones that have floated in and out. All of you have made me a better person.
I am grateful for the complications that have occurred due to my illness, it is teaching me to dig deeper to find peace.
I am grateful for my life, it is so far from the one I wanted for myself, but it is the one I have been given and I am enjoying it.
I am grateful and honored that I have been able to work on and build Buzzy as a business, (and will continue to do so.) I have met so many wonderful human beings, from fandom, authors, actors, techs, and web designers, too numerous to count. I have learned so much from each person and encounter. There have been many Buzzy adventures that have either been just plain fun or a learning experience. F.Y.I. – If you are unhappy or feel the need for change in your life’s trajectory. You can make changes. I am living proof of that. So much of who we are is what we do with our lives during the day. Find work that will make you feel good.
With All My Love To My Readers & Friends,
Joy Poger
