Dear Sara –
Am I hallucinating? Is the character Joe Pitt from ANGELS IN AMERICA meant to be a vampire in New York?
– Bewilderedly yours,
Tom B.
Dear Tom –
I can’t say whether you’re hallucinating or not, but by what is likely a strange coincidence, Joe Pitt, the name of one of the protagonists in Tony Kushner’s epic eight-hour play ANGELS IN AMERICA, is also the name of the hero of Charlie Huston’s excellent vampire novels set in New York. Joe Pitt in ANGELS IN AMERICA is a gay Mormon. Joe Pitt in Huston’s quintet of novels about the New York vampire scene is one of the most badass detective characters you are ever likely to encounter, as well as one of the most dangerous blood drinkers.
