It depends on whether the ghosts are visible or not. A revenant (the term is derived from the Latin “revenans,” which translates as “returning”) is a visible ghost (as opposed to the unseen variety) or a reanimated corpse, which generally returns to those it knew in life, rather than simply terrorizing strangers.
