Kids Need To Read
(KNTR)

Kids need to read. Never a truer statement was made. In my “past life” I was a elementary school teacher. One of the many things teaching gave me is a profound insight on how children learn, interpret and acquire language. The language a child learns enables him/her to explore all different aspects of themselves and the world around them. When you think about it, the most successful people are the ones who are best able to be in command of words, whether they are writing, speaking or interpreting information.

Way Of The Wolf - A Review

Way of the Wolf
Book One - The Vampire Earth Series
by E.E. Knight

Way of the Wolf introduces the reader to a post apocalyptic world where the bad guys have won. The year is 2065. Humanity has been reduced to cattle and the ranchers are Lovecraftian (as in H.P. Lovecraft) style alien monsters that use the life force of sentient beings to extend their own lives indefinitely. These puppet masters known as the Kur were responsible for the collapse of civilization by precipitating a nuclear war and releasing a type of mad zombie pestilence that swept around the globe destroying the remnants of civilization.

Halfway To The Grave - A Review
A Night Huntress Novel
by Jeaniene Frost

In a genre that has become very crowded it takes a lot to make a debut novel stand out from the pack. Jeaniene Frost’s urban fantasy romance Halfway to the Grave does that and more. Her half-vampire protagonist Catherine ( Cat ) Crawfield is more than a stak’em, slay’em and decapitate’em vampire slayer. She carries the weight of the world on her young shoulders.

HBO True Blood
Charlaine Harris - Southern Vampire Series Review

© Buzzy Multimedia
by June K. Williams

Music may not be the most important element in a film or television program but it should prepare you for what is going to be taking place onscreen. “Bad Things”, the theme music on True Blood, HBO’s “reimagining” of the wondrous world of Charlaine Harris’s Southern Vampire Series, does an outstanding job of setting both mood and place. The musician responsible is Jace Everett and I’m beginning to think he is the best thing to come out of Texas in a long while.

What Makes A T-Shirt Funny Or Not?
(or Why Some Are Funny, Others Are Not, & Those With A Short Shelf Life)

by Theresa Bane

Things are defiantly afoot in this great country of ours. Banks are dropping like flies; jobs are drying up; and if you have a 401 K it has probably shrunk faster than a chenille sweater in a hot dryer. This being an election year nothing is going to begin changing until after the last floating chad is counted .

In times such as these, there is only one burning question that people want answered. The question that is on everyone’s mind-what funny tee shirt should I get?

When Farscape first came on the air, I remember thinking to myself “I hope it does well.” I didn’t watch it though, it came on the Sci Fi channel on Saturday , and in our house that is when we main line gamed, all day, stopping only long enough to run to the bathroom or prepare some food that could be consumed while still chucking dice.

The History & Evolution Of The Geek

The History Of The Geek

by Theresa Bane

Somebody’s Daddy used to always say “you can’t tell where yer going if ya don’t know where you’ve been.” Quaint and true I suppose.

Applied practically, When I was a kid all parents wanted their child to be the blond hair, blue eye, raging heterosexual, popular Jock. Mine did, but what they got instead was a dark hair, stormy eyed overeducated Geek.

I, like my fellow dark hair geniuses were considered outcasts.

9 to 5ers with their choking mortgages and cubical jobs go out of their way to try to impress each other. These people are not kuel. Heck, their not even cool. They are the reason that “The Dresden Files” was taken off the Sci Fi channel while bloody gawd awful shows like Survivor and American Idol are allowed to pre-empt everything, even a presidential speech.
